We Don't Love Each Other (2010-11)

We Don’t Love Each Other is a performance that has multiple iterations, and is constantly in progress.
This is a performance that is instinctual yet structured; intuitive and abject. It is a performance of feminity and of control – all the while losing control. The performance is paradoxical. I bind myself by sewing thread in to my left and right arms – I release my inhibitions by downing shots of vodka. I create restrictions and deliberately produce the conditions under which these restrictions may be released. I consider the body, the woman’s body, as a site of reclamation, of objectification, of abjection. I repair myself by sewing (self-containment, retrieval); I harm myself by drinking.
