WITHOUT ME, YOU'RE NOTHING (2009)
A reaction and critique of interspecies collaboration. Recognition that what we are doing here is not collaboration. I presented this quilt to Sushi as a gift. I made the assumption that Sushi has no original thought, that her life is entirely dependant on me. If I don’t exist, Sushi’s entire life would change. If Sushi didn’t exist, I have a series of other relationships to replace her. A twist on the romantic “without you, I’m nothing” or “you complete me”.
I want the balance of our relationship and participation in this project to be clearly unequal.
